SPIC MACAY 2018

The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) is a voluntary youth movement which promotes intangible aspects of Indian Cultural Heritage by promoting Indian classical music, classical dance, folk music, yoga, meditation, crafts and other aspects of Indian culture.

It seeks to foster the traditional Indian values and to generate awareness of the cultural traditions and heritage of India. In order to achieve its goals, SPIC MACAY organizes concerts, lectures, demonstrations, workshops, informal discussions, and talks by eminent scholars and thinkers. 

Keeping the ideas of development of love for our culture and heritage among the youth, Ms. Kavita Dwibedi, daughter and disciple of Odissi maestro Guru Harekrishna Behera, was cordially invited to DPSG, Faridabad on 16th April 2018. She enlightened the students about the passion and the ecstasy that various dance forms gift to the human soul.The students tapped their feet to the classical music echoing in the air and enjoyed the performance. At the event Ms.Kavita Dwibedi also gave an informative lecture demonstration followed by an interactive session in which she apprised young students of various technicalities of the dance form. They were inspired by the rich Indian cultural heritage as well as got a deeper knowledge of the classical dance forms. Some of the eminent personalities who also performed at the event were: Shri Prashanta Kumar Mangaraj, Shri Suresh Kumar Sethi and Shri Rajat Kumar Prasanna. Every nook and corner of the school was decorated. The environment was sublimed with festivity. Watching the legends performing in their very exotic style made the workshop a great experience for the students as well as teachers.
